Treverbyn Parish Council

Community Spirit at Its Best

Yesterday, one of our Parish Councillors noticed a mother and daughter walking along Stannary Road towards the park, armed with a litter picker and rubbish bag, collecting litter as they went. After stopping to thank them personally, they kindly agreed for their story to be shared so that the community could recognise the amazing difference they are making. A huge thank you goes to Saffron and her daughter Daisy, who have taken it upon themselves to help clean and improve the village and park area. What makes this even more special is that it was Daisy’s idea to start litter picking in the first place. Saffron purchased all the equipment herself, and together they head out twice a week, often filling an entire black bag with rubbish. Alongside litter picking, they regularly weed roadsides, cut back brambles, tidy the bus shelter and raised planters, and have even started scrubbing road signs because they want to see the area looking cared for and welcoming again. Their neighbour, Tracy, also deserves recognition for helping keep weeds under control in the area. This is a wonderful example of community pride and kindness in action. It’s heartwarming to see residents giving their own time, energy, and resources to improve our parish for everyone. Thank you, Saffron, Daisy, and Tracy. Your efforts do not go unnoticed, and you are an inspiration to us all. If anyone else would like to get involved in helping keep our village looking its best, every little bit truly makes a difference.
